dc.description.abstract | Aiming at the problem of excessive erosion in thinning diagonal lines, complete deletion of patterns in the well-known thinning algorithm proposed by the Zhang and Suen, which is very good in respect to both connectivity and insensitively to boundary noise. Based on it, an improved parallel iterative thinning algorithm has proposed. The experiment shows that the proposed algorithm has better performance in visual quality by comparing with the ZS algorithm.
